575M Maranello 2004

The Ferrari 575M Maranello was first introduced in 2002 essentially, succeeding the 550 Maranello as an updated model with numerous modifications, hence the ‘M’ which is an abbreviation for ‘Modificata’ (modified). These updates included some mechanical improvements, most notably a larger and more powerful 5.7 litre engine that produces just shy of 510 horsepower. Other changes included larger brakes, improved weight distribution and some cosmetic changes, including the front bumper/grille, rear bumper, headlights, wheels and finally the interior. The 575M features an updated dashboard with newly styled dials and a digital fuel gauge.

This 575M features the 6-Speed F1 Semi-Automatic Gearbox.

Often referred to as the marque’s final front engine V12 Grand Tourer with an open-gate 6-speed manual gearbox. The 6-speed manuals are few and far between… With a total of 2056 models made 246 were made with a manual transmission.

In the late stages of production for the 575 Maranello the company released a GTC handling package which contained a ‘Superamerica” (a limited run of retractable hardtop variants of the motor vehicle) version along with raising the power of the coupe by 25hp.

 

THE BODY

The 2 door berlinetta made by Ferrari is classed in the Grand Tourer range of the vehicle categories that Ferrari made. The tubular steel frame enables for an aerodynamically enhanced drive, along side the smoothness and driveability of the motor vehicle.

The most significant feature of the Chassis was the new high performance adaptive damping system which independently controlled damping on all four wheels and varied ride height.

The 575 Maranello has a V12 engine that is capable of dispersing 515 hp. The 12 cylinder engine retained its predecessor’s 65 degree vee angle, twin overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, light alloy engine block, heads and oil tank, and dry sump lubrication with two scavenge and one sender pump, double filter, separate tank and individual radiators.

The 575 was produced in either a manual or electro-hydraulic F1 6-speed +reverse
